BENGOO X-40 Gaming Headset 2020 Latest Review.
BENGOO X-40 Gaming Headset was constructed for wide compatibility with the PlayStation 4, PC, Xbox One, Laptops, Nintendo 3DS, tablet devices, smartphones, and so on. The appeal of this headset has to be its unique gamer aesthetic, there’s plenty to say for the quality of its construction as well.
Gaming headphones need to be extra comfortable so that we can enjoy a nice long gaming session on perhaps the PS4, the pc or any other console.
With a cheaper pair it’s often quite risky since they tend to feel painful after a while. The Bengoo X-40 seems to be immune to this risk, it stays quite comfortable for long sessions.
The only downside we experienced while testing was because of the weight. Due to its metallic construction, it does weigh more than most other headsets.
The design on the Bengoo X-40 received a nice upgrade compared to its predecessor. While the previous version was mainly black and blue, the new version added a good amount of silver in the mix .
The X-40 is still an over-ear headphone making it above average in size. The main construction consists of a metallic material.
The bottom of the headband contains plenty of memory foam while being colored blue.
The ear pads are somewhat bulky but same as with the headband offer enough protection with a nice cushion.
Bengoo X-40 Features
The X-40 comes with an omnidirectional noise-canceling microphone. The quality of the mic is good but not amazing. Your teammates will be able to hear you clearly without you having to worry about every background noise being picked up.
Unfortunately the microphone isn’t detachable but still, it does a good job in general. The microphone is flexible and a bit longer than usual making it very user-friendly for finding the perfect position.
Things like this make it almost impossible for you to be breathing in your mic (your friends will be thankful).
Included in the box is a 3.5mm aux jack splitter cable. This allows you to split the connection into two different ports.

Gaming Audio Performance
Time to get down to the most important part of this review. With the Bengoo X-40 we have a gaming headset that works on all consoles. As the name indicates, this headset’s main purpose is gaming audio.
In this case, the sound palette is modified to have a stronger, more powerful bass sound. A strong bass is very enjoyable for games with plenty of action.
Note that is also enjoyable for other genres as well. We will be taking a closer look at the performance on PS4 and on Xbox One.
On the PS4 my main focus was Overwatch. I still really enjoy the game so I took it for a 2-hour spin. The audio experience was quite good, in this case, I didn’t use voice chat so that I can listen to the game audio without distraction.
Half the time it felt easy to locate where enemy players were moving around or where danger was coming from (it’s High Noon). All in all this performance test was better than expected.
Bengoo X-40 Xbox one
Let’s see how our testing continues on the Xbox One. Shadow Of Mordor is the weapon of choice for our last gaming test.
The voice acting sounds good and the music, in general, feels sinister and the X-40 manages to pull you into Mordor.
The headset manages to deliver a proper sound experience on the Xbox One. The connection is established in the same way as with the PS4.
The music performance is where you really feel that you are dealing with a cheap pair of headphones. Of course, this is not where the Bengoo X-40 is aimed at and for a price below USD30 you can’t expect everything to be perfect.
The frequency ranges are a bit mashed together. Especially at the midrange frequency, you feel that something is off. The bass sound is clearly modified to pack a stronger punch.
For bass lovers, the music performance will be good.
Versatile Budget Gaming Headset
In general, we were very pleased with the Bengoo X-40 review. It seems to be a durable headset which is comfortable enough for long gaming sessions.
The gaming performance scores quite good while it does drop the ball a bit when it comes to music. Another plus point is the versatility you get, the X-40 supports PS4, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo 3DS, PSP, Tablet and Mobile Phone.
